Obama kicks Osama

Obama's got a podcast, available on iTunes or maybe elsewhere, I dunno. But listening to him I've realized he's a PRAGMATIST, something seriously lacking in our government. He's a Democrat, but listening to him talk about the issues makes it difficult to tell.

He's also kind of funny. In his podcasts he delivers his lines in a very deadpan voice, and it sounds almost like he's a little uncomfortable talking into a microphone (it can be weird, when you can't see who's listening to you and it's not live). But his delivery works perfectly for a podcast he gives regarding the Homeland Security Appropriations, talking about how money isn't being distributed according to a risk-based analysis (NYC getting the same funding as Middle of Nowhere, Kentucky, etc.). He then mentions some of the places specifically earmarked for funds:

Some unusual or out of place sites are considered terrorist targets by the Department [of Homeland Security], and let me just give you some examples.

Among the so-called terrorist targets are the Amish Country Popcorn Factory; the Old McDonald's Petting Zoo; the Mule Day Parade in Columbia, TN; and the Apple and Pork festival in Clinton, IL.

Now, these are all wonderful events. And obviously we want to be vigilant in terms of protecting any area where there might be a potential crowd. But I don't think that any of us can honestly say that a popcorn factory or mule day parade is going to be at the top of Al-Qaida's list.
