This... can't be good.

N. Korea wants war? Ok... not sure what their aim is here. I mean, Kim Jong-il's aim. They're not in any sort of position for power, and now that even China's turning against them, they've played all their cards. I read an interesting article about how it's not that they're nationalist up the wazoo, though they are, but that the purity of their race as a virtue has been drilled into them so hard that they'll do anything to preserve it. But this isn't like Japan or Germany of the 30's, who, though deluded, did actually have some sort of power over others for a period of time; North Korea has nothing at all, and having nukes isn't going to change that. No one was ever thinking of invading them anyway--cold war's over, no one's attacking Communists anymore, not even Bush, and they have no great natural resources so Bush definitely wouldn't be considering them a target. All anyone's afraid of is regional instability and North Korea using nukes unprovoked. That would really suck. I doubt Mr. Kim is quite that off his rocker, but maybe he is. At least they have a ways to go--their first nuke test was reported to be a 1 kiloton bomb, aka a thousand sticks of dynamite. Not really enough to bring the world to an end.

to make a long story short, Kim'd get his ass kicked if he fired a nuke at anyone.
